When the country grinds to a halt in the midst of Lockdown, what do musicians do? Well make music of course!

 “Tri-oh”, TGC’s most senior chamber ensemble had been preparing for the regional Chamber Music competitions when NZ plunged into Lockdown. For Grace (Heeju) Tak, Sarah Lee and Patti Li, the move into lockdown was a great opportunity to practice their music and when Chamber Music NZ decided to run the competition via a recorded performance, they took up the challenge.

With just six weeks to pull together Beethoven’s “Piano Trio after Symphony No 2”, the girls rehearsed together for hours each week. Recording day came around and just a few days later, the results. Tri-oh had won the regional competition and were through to the Northern round. Congratulations ladies….that was one incredible achievement!
