Spirit of Adventure
The Spirit of Adventure was a memorable experience that helped us grow as young individuals.
We visited many beautiful locations around the Hauraki Gulf, including Sandy Bay, Lady’s Bay, Mansion House on Kawau Island and Music Point. As well as learning the basics of sailing and keeping the ship shape, we participated in many activities such as raft racing, rope tying, singing competition, chant and flag creations and climbing up the mast. One of our biggest challenges was getting up at 6am to jump in the freezing sea water and being woken up by bagpipes which soon became our new normal. We have made many good friendships from different schools and bonded as a team. At the end of it, we became a close-knit family and we can all agree no one wanted to leave. We were so lucky to be accompanied by the amazing Lucy Backus, we thank you Lucy for taking us on this amazing trip, we would never have been able to go without you! We are so privileged to be a part of voyage 848B and be a part of this epic experience.
