Following a very successful day at the Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics championships, five athletes from Tauranga Girls' College were selected to represent Waikato/BOP at the North Island Secondary Schools Athletics championships at Porritt Stadium, Hamilton on 10-11 April.

The weather wasn’t the greatest over the weekend, with periods of rain and wind, followed by heat and humidity, but our girls gave it their all and should be commended on not only their amazing results, but also their support of one another and demonstration of sportsmanship and pride.

Results from the weekend are:

Olivia Hala - 1st IG 2000m steeplechase, 2nd 1G 800m, 3rd IG 4x400m relay

Maia Poutawera - 1st JG 300m, 7th JG 800m

Saskia Rhind - 4th IG High Jump, 8th IG Shot Put, 9th IG Discus

Abi Wikeepa - 12th IG 100m

Candice Pretorius - 7th IG 300m Hurdles
