International Alternative Programme

TGC —

Senior International students not sitting NCEA were involved in an alternative programme over this time.

This year was considerably smaller in student numbers than previous years but it enabled us to combine with Tauranga Boys' College International Department on a number of the events. Even with the numbers down, the amount of fun and excitement was no less.

Week one started with a trip to Taupō on the Huka Falls Jet boat and a walk along the Huka Falls. A new activity we introduced this year was a trip to Rotorua to Rakai Jade where the girls learned the art of carving their own necklace from pounamu (NZ Jade). Students made an excellent job of their necklaces.

Hobbiton is always a trip the girls all look forward to, for many of them it is ticking off one of their bucket lists in New Zealand after seeing the Lord of The Rings movies. This was also Linda's Birthday and she was able to celebrate with a ginger beer at the Green Dragon Inn.

Week 2’s first activity was at Waimarino Water and Adventure Park attended by a number of International Departments from different colleges in the Bay of Plenty.

We ended the program with a round of 10 pin bowling, rock climbing and fish and chips.
