Ringa Toi Exhibition 2022 - Te Papa, Wellington

TGC —

Tauranga Girls’ College is proud to announce that six of our akonga have had 9 works selected for Ringa Toi 2022; Anahera Takamore Uatuku-Gray, Alizaye Morunga, Asjanae Wharemate, Meadow Maharey, Lily Nijssen and Manaia Faulkner

Ringa Toi is an NZQA student exhibition which celebrates excellence in toi Māori (Māori art) for Levels NCEA 1,2 and 3. The selection process involves NZ secondary school students' submitting their contemporary and traditional artwork with a description of its meaning and what has inspired their artwork. The curators compare the works within their particular categories and choose based on what is aesthetically and technically the strongest pieces for the show.

This year the exhibition is at Te Papa, Wellington from 26 September - 10 October 2022, and our group of students and their kiako, Sarah Beaufoy-Holland, attended the opening.

This experience was one to be celebrated with their work on prominent display at Te Papa Rongomaraeroa Te Marae. Hon Jan Tinetti opened the exhibition and then spent time talking with the girls about their artwork.
