Whanaungatanga

TGC —

A emphasis on building relationships and connecting with and between staff and students.

At the start of every year we deliberately have a focus on whanaungatanga - a emphasis on building relationships and connecting with and between staff and students. We create this through shared experiences and working together with others to provide a sense of belonging.

Last week Year 12 and Year 13 students engaged in Leadership Workshops where they learnt about trust of themselves and others, Hauora/ wellbeing and some key tools to support their own wellbeing, and ways to investigate/ plan their career pathways.

We had a wonderful group of Year 12 tuakana students who returned on Thursday and Friday to support our Year 9 students as they settled into school life at TGC. Students participated in a range of activities including learning about our school marae - Te Whare o Mereaira, engaging in team building activities, practicing titi torea and enjoying a swim in our beautiful school pool.

Throughout the next week, students will continue to engage in whanaungatanga activities in their classes to build relationships with their new teachers and continue to build a sense of belonging to our kura.
