Ki-O-Rahi

Rizzy Saludez —

This term the field was packed with many of our ākonga playing Ki-O-Rahi.

Ki-O-Rahi, often played during Matariki, stems from the Māori legend Rahitutakahina and Tiarakurapakewai. We’ve had House vs House rounds during lunchtimes which were an absolute blast. Great to see lots of juniors and seniors out there getting involved and giving it a go! The house pride emanating from each student was also awesome to watch! A big shout out to our sports prefects and house leaders for enabling this to happen.

Finals Results:

Juniors

WHINA vs BATTEN 15 - 2 Whina = Winners

Seniors

BATTEN vs SHEPPARD 2 - 1 Batten = Winners

The support was outstanding on Thursday 23 June where we had our annual TGC vs TBC Prefects Ki-O-Rahi match! Playing with TBC is always good fun and collaborating with them really strengthens the whanaungatanga between our schools. We may have lost this time but that only makes us more determined to win the next event which will be announced next term! Again, ka pai for the effort and participation from everyone involved!
