A Youth Climate Forum, ‘Te Toka Whakaea’, was held at Huria Marae here in Tauranga. Many of our students attended.

Erina Islam shared their thoughts on the experience;

“I really liked learning about what people valued and what my peers thought could be practical initiatives. It was awesome. Also, those who signed up will be sent a follow-up email if we want to tell the Tauranga commission about our concerns. We felt heard. We also talked to Council representatives about our concerns. We pitched initiatives to solve the current climate crisis. It was a spiritual experience in terms of the tikanga surrounding the marae. It was very inspiring.”
