The Senior Badminton Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools Championships were on Wednesday, 16 August. Three teams represented Tauranga Girls’ College.

Our Division 1 team fought some extremely close battles against other schools, however, this year, most of these did not go our way. We lost most matches on point countbacks, losing with as little as 3 points in one. This meant we missed out on a Bronze medal instead of coming fourth.

Our Division 2 team also came up against some tough competition. They played well and never gave up, coming fifth overall.

Our Division 3 team were the stars of the day. Once these girls qualified for this tournament back in Term Two, they told Ms Thomason they were going to practice hard, and they were going to win their division. They can be congratulated for attending practices, listening to advice, and asking for feedback. All of this paid off as they played smartly and enthusiastically to win Gold in Division 3.
