Attendance Matters

TGC —

A connected school community does everything to make sure students are attending, participating, and progressing. It is this time of year that attendance is ever so important.

Senior students need to be present for their NZQA exams, there is not a second chance.

Junior students also need to be present as classes prepare for assessments and especially when assessments are scheduled. This is their opportunity to show what they have learned this year and finish the year well.

We continue to encourage regular attendance this term and whānau will be alerted when their daughter or young person is absent. When a student is to be absent it is important the office is messaged either by phone or email using  absences@tgc.school.nz. The Ministry of Education gives clear guidelines as to the reasons that are justified such as medical, bereavement, local, and national representation.

If a student reaches the five-day threshold an email will be sent to notify whānau of this,  indicating the student has dropped below the expectation or regular attendance this term,

Good habits of attendance and punctuality align with good learning outcomes.
