Two of our 2021 Futures Academy students have taken the cake!

Molly McGee was placed top in her Level 2 Mechanical Engineering course, and Tiarna Allen top in her Level 2 Farming and Agriculture course. Both courses were held at Toi Ohomai Windermere campus, as well as in the workshop and out on the farm, respectively. Huge congratulations to both of these girls, a true reflection of their commitment to do the mahi to get the treats!

Tiarna Allen has also received the Prime Minister’s Vocational Excellence Award for Tauranga Girls’ College for 2021, along with a $2000 cash prize intended to help students pursue their desired pathway. Another huge Ka Pai for Tiarna!

Lastly, along with two other students from Rotorua, Tiarna was selected to take part in a four day trip to Pukekiwi station in Motu to immerse themselves into drystock work. Given that Futures Academy focused a lot around the dairy industry, the Motu trip provided students with something completely different, including drafting lambs from ewes, oral drenching, castrating male lambs, and ear marking.
