Art —

Olivia Mckee, Year 11

These pieces of artwork were a part of my internal assessment. For the internal, we used artist models who we studied and used some of their colours, techniques and compositions.

My lynx painting was influenced by Blaine Fontana who used stencils and layers to create his backgrounds and often places his subject largely in the foreground. As this artwork is a part of my art project for the year, I had to think about subjects to carry through all of my paintings. I chose a lynx, kingfisher, a statue of Plato, and a Greek philosopher as my subjects because I thought they were interesting and would pose a challenge.

We were asked to pick a room that would represent TGC to become part of a mural that will go up on one of the walls at school. For my room, I chose a library and in my background, you can see that I have used two stencils, one that represents writing and one that is a fleur-de-lis like pattern. There were certain parts of my lynx that I especially enjoyed painting like the mouth as it was a fun challenge and I got to play with shading and colours.
