iSPORT Youth Leadership Day

TGC —

On Friday 28 May 16 young athletes from Tauranga Girls’ College proudly represented the kura at the iSPORT ‘Connecting to Character’ Youth Leadership Day.

This annual event is run through the iSPORT Foundation whose goal is to teach young people essential skills of self-awareness, self-respect, self-responsibility, self-discipline, self-belief, self-confidence, self-control and self-forgiveness.

This year students had the privilege of hearing from New Zealand legends and role models Richie McCaw, Daniel Carter, Willie Apiata, Lesley Elder and Honey Hireme-Smiler.

Key messages of the day were around growing character, finding your purpose, developing resilience, staying humble and serving others.

With the TGC Service or Work Day being held on Tuesday 8 June an appropriate quote from the day was “Find yourself by getting lost in the service to others”.
