In the Library
And so begins the penultimate term of 2023. In the library, we can’t believe it is already August. What has happened to this year!?
With the end of the year looming, exams are just around the corner for our senior students. We would like to remind you we have NCEA Study Guides for all levels and subjects in the library. Some are available to be issued, while others are only to be used in the library. We won’t renew any borrowed Study Guides to ensure everyone who wants to use them can. We even have several books on how to study.
You can see what we have in our whole collection on our website. Students can log in to see what books they borrowed in the past, any they may currently have out, and when they are due back. If you have any issues, please contact Ms Middleton or Miss Whitaker.
If your young person has overdue books, we would like them back. No questions asked. We would like to have them back so other students can read them.
We also have an extensive collection of eBooks and Audiobooks to be borrowed. You can find out about them here. There is also an app which can be downloaded.
We celebrated the diversity of our community in June with a huge Pride display, which has been entered into a national competition (we are still waiting to hear the results). During National Schools Pride Week, we made Friendship bracelets during lunch, which was well received and enjoyed.
To finish Term 2, Ms Middleton made Matariki Stars with students using card and yarn. They turned out well and have been on display in the library. It’s always cool to see how the students make things, and we look forward to more crafts throughout the rest of the year. Coming up, Miss Whitaker will offer a craft session to make dragon eggs! We will be celebrating dragons and fantasy literature, mythology and tales from around the world.
We rearranged our collection at the end of Term 2, moving the ‘Quick Reads’ to the front of the library. These are fantastic small novels, many of which are designed to make reading easier for anyone with Dyslexia or Irlen Syndrome or anyone who just wants a, well, quick read.
Here are a couple of the other displays which have been up in the library.
We’ve had some great reviews come in. Check out the latest ones below.
