Blood Drive

Nandini Saily —

On the day of the Blood Drive, the school hall was transformed into a donation centre. The room was filled with comfortable chairs and friendly staff from NZ BLOOD who were ready to help donors throughout the process. There was a sense of excitement and anticipation in the air, as everyone knew they were doing something important and potentially life-saving.

By signing up, students showed up to donate blood. Throughout the day, there was a steady stream of people. Some students were nervous since it was their first time donating, while others were excited to give back to their local community.

The Community Committee was on hand throughout the donation process to ensure the students were comfortable and well taken care of. They offered donors snacks, drinks and chatted with them to help them relax. They also kept an eye on donors to ensure they felt okay after donating blood.

Overall, the blood drive was a huge success. Tauranga Girls’ College saved approximately 102 lives by giving blood, and 34 units of blood equals about 16 litres.

Many people donated blood, and the event raised awareness about the importance of donating blood and how it can make a huge difference in someone's life. The school community came together to support a great cause, and everyone left feeling proud of what they had accomplished.

Thank you to everyone who helped out and donated!
