Economics Trip

TGC —

Our Level Three Economics class travelled down to Wellington, where we spent our three days visiting some of the most famous spots in the capital city and expanding our knowledge of governance and economics. We travelled by train, which took around eight hours, which was an excellent opportunity to build connections with our classmates and admire the beautiful views down the North Island.

The trip commenced with a visit to the iconic New Zealand Parliament. We were lucky enough to get a tour around the spectacular Beehive, which included a look around the debating chamber and a talk from Sam Uffiindell, the MP for Tauranga. This tour taught us about New Zealand's political history and informed us about potential jobs in that sector we could pursue.

We also visited the Commerce Commission, the Productivity Commission and the Supreme Court of New Zealand, and it was amazing to hear from passionate people about how economic policies are formed.

The highlight of my trip was visiting the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and viewing the Gallipoli exhibit. It was amazing to learn about the rich history of New Zealand and see the beautiful creations of local artists.

A huge thank you to Ms Bell for organising the trip and everyone else who made it possible for us to experience something so fun and educational!
