2022 BOP Secondary Schools Squash Individuals Results

TGC —

Tauranga Girls' College competed in the BOP Individual secondary schools Squash Individuals tournament held in Geyer City Rotorua on Wednesday this week.

The team is relatively young, with many Year 9 students having a go at a tournament and representing Tauranga Girls' College for the first time.

There were some great games played, some very long and some very short ones. But everyone got three matches and a fun time away practicing the skills we have been learning every Wednesday morning at the Devoy Squash Club.

End result, definitely improved confidence gained from all our players, and definitely huge experience gained for our next team's event coming up in three weeks time.

Of special note was Salma Hassan, who has been in the Tauranga Girls' College team for the past five years. She was down 2/0 against Papamoa College’s Monica Werder. A few tips and technical support during her 90 second break boosted her confidence to take the 3rd game and eventually the next two games as well, eventually winning the match 3/2. Also special mention to Brianna Lewitt for winning Division 3.
