Tauranga Multicultural Festival
On Saturday, 22 March, ākonga from our kura took part in the 26th Tauranga Multicultural Festival held at the Historic Village.
Our ākonga participated in the Parade of Nations, performing on the stage with their ethnic groups and representing TGC. Their performances impressed the wider community in Tauranga.
Here's what our performers thought of the day:
The Tauranga Multicultural Festival was an exciting event, despite the heat it was even more exciting to be performing. Although I was nervous at first, I ended up having fun in the end. It was amazing to see so many different cultures being celebrated, and I felt pleased that I could celebrate with my peers by getting on stage. All the other performances were terrific to watch. I especially enjoyed going around the different food stalls and eating food from other cultures. Overall, I had a marvelous time at the Tauranga Multicultural Festival! (Margreth Marchadesch)
My participation in the Tauranga Multicultural event was amazing and I got to experience something I never thought I would do. It was nerve-wracking but it was okay in the end! I'm grateful that I could be a part of the Chinese dance to perform and represent our school in the multicultural festival. (Sky Williamson)
