Tauranga Girls’ College was represented at the 2023 Bunnings New Zealand Secondary Schools Touch Championships in Rotorua, competing against 20 other secondary school teams in the Girl’s Open Division.

Our team comprised a mix of Year 9 – 13 students, with seven new players attending their first touch nationals. The tournament was held over three days and was the last secondary school tournament of the calendar year.

Our team played four games on Friday, winning their first game and narrowly losing three. This resulted in them finishing fourth in their pool. The final placing after the games on Saturday was a playoff for 15-16th; the team finished strong, beating South Otago 7-4 to end the tournament in fifteenth.
