EPro8 Challenge

Digital Technology —

On Tuesday 25 May Tauranga Girls’ College entered three teams of Year 9 and 10 students in the EPro8 Engineering Challenge heats, held at Tauranga Boys’ College.

TGC competed against teams from Aquinas College, Te Puke High School, Bethlehem College and Tauranga Boys’ College in range of engineering, mathematics and electronic circuit challenges.

Two of our teams placed 7th equal and our Year 10 team 'The Weapons of Math Destruction' placed first. The team led for most of the competition and ended up winning by 90 points.

The students in this team were Jimin Lee, Erina Islam, Shefaa Swailam, and Gayathri Dinesh, who will be attending the regional competition in Hamilton in July. Wish them luck!

The EPro8 Challenge is the inter-school science and engineering competition. It is designed to give students a fun and rewarding introduction to science and engineering. At each event teams will compete with other schools in the area to try and finish a variety of interesting science and engineering based challenges.

This is one of a series of events around the Waikato/Bay of Plenty region, with the top teams from each event qualifying for a semi-final and then the grand final.
