ALUMNA SPOTLIGHT: Lauren Vosper

Alumna Profile —

Learn about Tauranga Girls' College alumnae and their accomplishments beyond our school gate. This edition we profile 1998 Batten House Leader, Lauren Vosper. Please send any potential recommendations to news@tgc.school.nz

When Lauren Vosper heard a film crew from Augusto & Tourism NZ were heading back to her old stomping ground of Tauranga Girls' College to capture the korero of master navigator Jack Thatcher and interview some students she insisted that she needed to come along too!

Lauren who is the General Manager of Public Relations & Social Media for Tourism New Zealand was the House Captain for Batten house in 1998. She was excited to see her old house was still going strong but surprised to see the change from green to blue and loved reconnecting with fellow Battenite and classmate, Jane Finnimore who is now a staff member. Lauren said:

“The Meaningfulness of Matariki is about coming home to reconnect with your place. Coming home to be able to share this with the world is pretty special”

The crew are flying all over New Zealand over the next week to put together a piece called 'Matariki Moments' where they are interviewing stalwarts of Matariki such as Jack Thatcher and Dr Rangi Matamua among others.

Some of our students were also interviewed about their Matariki experiences. 'Matariki Moments' will go live online at the end of July for a Tourism Channel for both NZ and international audiences promoting tourism in NZ.
