Tauranga Aero Club

Careers —

Tauranga Aero Club is offering a Gateway Course during Term 2, 3 and 4. It is an eight week course, so the students have a week free at the beginning and end of the term.

Over these eight weeks there is a weekly 2.5 hour session with an instructor which will entail some ground training and three practical flying lessons that cover:

- Effects of Controls 1 & 2
- Straight and Level and Medium Turns
- Climbing and descending

These flights can be put toward a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) if students choose to continue flight training. Apart from the flights, students will be exposed to other aspects of Tauranga Airport’s operations such as maintenance and engineering; air traffic controlling; ramp operations, and aircraft flight attending. This will give Gateway students a wide exposure to the industry and enable them to identify various aviation career pathways.
