Athletics: Spotlight on our National Athletes

At our recent TGC Athletics day, both athletes made history with Maia running the fastest 800m across all age groups. This means Maia has for all 5 years at TGC held this title! Ruby broke the senior discus record which has stood since 1976 and she now holds the TGC junior, intermediate, and senior discus records.

Both athletes had a very successful campaign at the recent NZ Track and Field Championships held in Dunedin. Maia placed 4th in a PB time of 2:16.55 in the U20 800m final Maia also won a gold for WaiBoP girls in the WU20 4 x 400m relay. Ruby won a silver with a throw of 42.00m in the WU18 Discus and also placed 6th in the WU18 Shot Put with 12.58m.

We are incredibly proud of these two athletes and their achievements.
