Stay safe, stay secure. We have been alerted to a concerning scam that directly impacts registered doctors in New Zealand.

It has come to our attention through a recent incident reported by a doctor that the personal and professional details of several practitioners have been utilised on a counterfeit telehealth platform, known as "prescripson.com."

Upon receiving this critical information, we have taken action to address and mitigate the potential harm this scam could cause.

The following measures have been implemented:

  • A formal notification has been filed with the Police through their 105 notification system. This action is aimed at initiating a thorough investigation into the matter, to identify and prosecute the individuals responsible for this breach of privacy and trust.
  • We have engaged with Netsafe, an established authority in online safety and security. Their expertise will be invaluable in addressing the cybersecurity aspects of this scam, providing guidance on further protective measures and helping to prevent similar incidents in the future.

We urge all registered doctors to remain vigilant and to monitor any unsolicited or suspicious activities related to your professional credentials. Regularly review your online presence and the use of your professional details on websites outside of your control.

Should you encounter any unauthorised use of your details or receive questionable inquiries that seem related to this scam, please report them immediately to the authorities and the Medical Council for further action.
