Consultation | Disclosure of harm following an adverse event

Our draft statement on Disclosure of harm following an adverse event is intended to help doctors understand the purpose of open disclosure, why it matters to patients and/or their family/whānau, and to guide doctors in situations that require harm to be disclosed.

While the draft statement is similar to the current statement, our changes are intended to make it clearer and easier to navigate.

We invite your feedback on our draft.   Please respond to the questions in the consultation paper using the online form at our website [ here ].

From the Ministry of Health | A time-limited pause on the use of surgical mesh for stress urinary incontinence.

Director-General of Health, Dr Diana Sarfati, has supported, effective 23 August 2023, a time-limited pause on the use of surgical mesh for stress urinary incontinence.

The recommendation is that a time-limited pause is in place until specified conditions taken to minimise harm linked to the procedure for women are met to lift the pause.
