Everybody counts in Kererū
Respect. Play. We all belong.
This past term in Kea we have been learning about citizenship and what it means to be a good citizen. A major part of this is embodying inclusiveness. However this does not mean we need to agree on everything, rather agreeing to respect each other's differences. This is something that you can see during break times in Kererū.
Lunchtime in Kererū consists mainly of playing games, relaxing in the forest which is a room made up of cardboard trees and paper animals. Vines hang from the ceiling adding a realistic touch. Playing hand games are what two students, Amie and Isabel often do together. “I am always included in games,” Isabel said. True to her word, other students agree that Kererū is an inclusive and fun place to be during morning tea and lunch.
