Samoan Language Week 2022

Nicola Eka —

"O le tagata ma lona aiga, o le tagata ma lona fa'asinomaga" - "Every Person belongs to an aiga and every aiga belongs to a person".

Aiga is the Samoan word for family, last week Three Kings School Samoan aiga celebrated their culture and shared it with the rest of the school.

There was dancing (siva), art work (pese arta) such as Room 2s siapo creation above, songs (pese) and even the first ever Three Kings School house Sasa competition.

Many thanks to aiga for helping our learners at home and a huge congratulations to all our Samoan learners for representing Samoa with such pride.

Here is what our Samoan Learners had to say about their culture:

"Last week we talked about the things that we love about being Samoan. We love the food! So much food! Chop Suey, Shrimp Cocktail and taro. We love the clothes – lavalava and puletasi. The dances and music. We love learning to speak and count in Samoan and most of all we love the way that Samoan families come together to spend time with each other. We are Samoan and we are proud!".
