Rata Cross Country

Moira Blair —

What a fabulous afternoon watching our New Entrant - Year 2's out enjoying the sunshine for their Cross Country.

The enthusiasm of the students was obvious as they came down to the terraces and it was really lovely watching them all give it a go. It was great to see some of our senior students helping out , encouraging and running with the juniors as well as being photographers for the event.  Thank you to all the parents and whanau who came to support their children.

I have already seen some of the great writing that has come out of the event from students who have popped by my office, here is the day in their words;

I was thirsty when I was at cross country, then I was OK. I was happy afterwards. - By Riya Room 2

I came first in the cross country. I felt happy and I felt hungry before the race. - by Shaun Room 2

I came in fifth place. It keeps me strong and healthy. I love running. -  By Leo Room 3

I liked it when everyone ran to the finish line because I tried to run as fast as I could. - by Jayden Room 3

The Cross Country Race

Yesterday we went down to the bottom field to do the cross country race. We sat on the steps to wait for our turn and I was wearing my tui house t-shirt. When it was our turn we put our arms out.  When the clickers clicked we ran around the field one time and I came fifth. I was a little bit annoyed because I didn't get a placing.  - by Iona Room 12
