It's cool to Walk to School

Shannon Hardwick —

Auckland Transport

Good news! We have lift off for the Duke St/Mt Eden Rd WSB. Our very own Robyn Coutts and Delia Matthias, the WSB Community Transport Coordinator from Auckland Transport have volunteered their time to ‘drive’ the WSB on a Monday and Wednesday morning at 8.15am.

Departure point: 931 Mt Eden Rd, outside Mutiny Hair Salon. We will be walking along Mt Eden Rd to the crossing at the Balmoral/Mt Eden Rd

intersection.

A walking school bus is a safe, free, fun and healthy way to get to school.

There are lots of other benefits too:

  • reduces traffic congestion around the school gate/on roads
  • builds confidence and independence for the juniors walking into the classroom
  • great way to meet and connect with other school families
  • reduces the stress of finding a carpark nearby
  • students arrive at school on time
  • your child meets you at a safe place away from the school traffic and is supervised on their walk to/from school
  • contributes to a reduction of carbon (CO2) emissions into the environment

So, please join us for the launch of the Duke St/Mt Eden Rd WSB on Monday 29 March 2021. There will be a surprize reward for everyone who joins the WSB on that day.
