What a 'waste' of time!

Maria Kroonenberg —

On Thursday the 12th May, Paul Charteris and Nicola Tagiston came to visit Toki team. They came to talk to us as part of our inquiry into Sustainability this term.

Paul came to talk to us about his company saveBOARD. At SaveBOARD they make construction boards out of tetra packs, juice boxes and even chippie packets.

Did you know that the roof of the Tesla Factory in Nevada is made up of 200,000 saveBOARDs?

Paul asked us to collect all our tetra packs, juice boxes, and chippie packets and even the cardboard cracker boxes come in so we can have our own school saveBOARD.

Nicola came from Fletcher Living and she is Head of Sustainability. She said we make about a whole rugby field of rubbish in a week. Imagine how much we use in a year!

Nicola talked to us about the creative and responsible ways Fletchers are dealing with construction waste. One of the ways is creating different bins so they can recycle the construction waste properly, another is working in partnership with companies like SaveBOARD and Green Gorilla.

Did you know that all the construction waste that goes to Green Gorilla gets hand sorted? Now that's looking after the environment properly.
