Room 6 Teacher

John Waller —

We are really excited to introduce Aki Murai who will begin as the new teacher in room 6 next term.

Tēnā koutou katoa. My name is Aki Murai, and I am pleased to take Amy’s place as teacher for Room 6 at Three Kings School. In the midst of celebrating Amy’s big step as a new mother, I am looking forward to stepping in and finishing off the year strong with you, my new students, staff, and all of the extended whānau.

I am a Japanese-American teacher, cyclist, and writer, originally from Los Angeles, California, a culturally and ethnically diverse community. I have been teaching for 10 years at schools with varying pedagogies in Japan, Spain, and the United States after graduating from UCLA. I recently finished a postgraduate primary teaching programme from the UK, and came to Aotearoa to teach, being attracted to the concepts of lifelong learning in the New Zealand curriculum.

I myself am a lifelong learner, open communicator, and passionate teacher, and I know that each and every day is important in the development of our learners. I hope to meet you soon and have a chat. See you soon!
