Year 5 Furniture
I have been working with our Year 5 students to design, budget and order new classroom furniture to suit their learning needs.
The furniture in Room 15 is very tired and causes issues with desk lids needing to open and things going everywhere. (the room 16 furniture which is in better condition will be put in storage for when Toki goes back to 3 year 5 classes). The students have looked at creating an environment that promotes collaboration, creativity, and comfort, and working within a budget. They trialled some chairs and furniture and a smaller team helped pick out colours and fabrics. The new furniture will be delivered in the next holidays. They have chosen to go with desks, some ztools that allow students to work on the floor with a place for a laptop or book, and a very cool reading nook. They will also get a new whiteboard unit that will increase the storage in the room. Year 6 furniture will be replaced in the second half of the year.
Room 15's old desks will be looking for a new home and will be available on the last day of term, for any families that would like one . Along with some excess teachers' desks. Let the office know if you know of a group or organisation that would like any of these.
