A Term of Science

John WallerJuly 26, 2020

Term 2 at Three Kings has a science focus with all the students getting involved in learning to about science.

Kauri syndicate have already started working on The Wonder Project. This is a project where each class are partnered with a real life engineer and work through all the steps to design, build and launch their own rocket. To make it even more exciting, Room 16 have been partnered up with Hana Kirk, a former Three Kings student.

Next week, we are lucky enough to be having a visit from the Science in a Van team. Science in a Van is a science road show that teaches science in a fun and interactive way. Our younger students will be learning through the story of the Billy Goat's Gruff and our older students will be learning through the 'Move It' unit. Science in a Van has been funded through the school activity fee.

This week your child should have brought home their Science-a-thon pack. We decided that we would go ahead with the school science-a-thon this term but we will not be running it as a fund raiser. This year students will looking to collect pledges which they can collect by answering questions in the thon. We are asking friends and whanau to offer to maybe cook a child their favourite meal, do their chores for a week or take them on a bike ride. The more creative the better. We really encourage you to discuss the questions with your child when they come home. The conversations that they can initiate is where the best learning happens.
