Welcome back to Term 2!
Kia ora whanau, talofa aiga, hi everyone, welcome back to Term 2. I hope you have enjoyed a break from school routines and spent some valuable time with your family over the holidays. Here are a few reminders about things coming up in the first couple of weeks of school:
ANZAC Service Friday 3rd May 2:30pm
No doubt many of you would have attended ANZAC ceremonies yesterday. Such a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made so we can live the lives we do today. We will be holding our ANZAC service here at school on Friday the 3rd May at 2:30pm and we would love you to join us. We are hoping to have a few dignitaries join us on the day. We look forward to seeing you there.
Parent/Whanau/Student Conferences - 7th/8th May 2024
In week 2 we will be holding parent/whanau/student conferences on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th May. Please look out for the bookings to open on Hero on Monday 29 April and ensure you make a time to meet with your child/ren’s teacher.
Conferences will begin at 1pm on Wednesday the 8th of May, so if you are able to support us by picking your children up at lunchtime we would really appreciate it. Mrs Connelly and I will be supervising any children who are unable to be collected and need to remain at school for the afternoon. Thank you for your support with this.
North Loburn School Cross Country - Friday 10th May
On Friday the 10th May at 1pm we will hold our school cross country. Miss Sherriff has sent out some information, as well as a request for some help. If you are able to spare some time to help on the day that would be greatly appreciated - thank you.
Keeping Ourselves Safe programme
This term we will be teaching the Keeping Ourselves Safe programme with the support of Constable Ken. A parent information hui run by Constable Ken will be held early in the term, more details are to come. In the meantime if you would like to know more about the programme you can check it out here: Keeping Ourselves Safe. If you have any concerns about your child and this programme or would like to discuss any of the content please get in touch with myself or your child's teacher.
Board Bi-Election
Emails have been sent to whanau to enable you to vote in our Board Bi-Election. We are very lucky to have three excellent candidates so please make sure you vote. Email office@northloburn.school.nz if you need any assistance with this.
Out of Zone Enrolments Opening
Early in term 2 you will see us advertising for Out of Zone enrolments. If you know of any families or friends who would like to join us here at Tihiraki North Loburn School who are outside our zone and would love to benefit from our small class sizes, a kura that lives and breathes their values, inspiring and passionate teachers and our beautiful rural setting please let them know. Enrolment reminder: If your preschool child is going to start school in Term 2 please ensure you have completed an online enrolment form through Hero - TNLS enrolment form. Thank you.
School Holiday Happenings
During the school holidays the South Island Primary Basketball Tournament was held in Rangiora. Congratulations to Cooper Jarvis and Ned Robinson whose North Canterbury team won 5 out of their 6 games at the tournament. Congratulations also to Edy Stewart who played for the NC Bobcats and came 3rd overall.
Revamped School Website
Our school website has been revamped with the help of some experts. Please check it out and if you have any feedback let me know. Thank you very much.
Please enjoy the weekend and make the most of this beautiful weather. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our wonderful tamariki back here at school, and catching up with our lovely whanau, on Monday. Until then take care.
