John McGlashan take overall exchange honours
Gavin Miller - July 8, 2022
The top performing sport for TBHS was Football with three wins from three in well played games. The Junior side were in control throughout their 4-0 victory. The 2nd XI created a number of chances but were not able to capitalise on them until an exciting final five minutes when two goals gave them a 3-2 win. The 1st XI who have just received news of gaining a wildcard entry into the Premier National Tournament in Napier in August completed the clean sweep with a hard fought 2-1 result in their favour.
Both Hockey matches were hard fought draws, the Colts match went to a penalty shoot out won by Timaru. Both Basketball matches were controlled by polished McGlashan combinations. The Senior match was 83-59 and the Junior 77-46 to the home side.
A strong, well-drilled McGlashan side were too strong for TBHS in the 1st XV encounter winning 45-0. The 2nd XV game was competitive for much of the contest before McGlashan dominated the final quarter in a 36-20 win. In the Colts match Timaru turned a half-time deficit around with a strong second half performance to eventually win comfortably 43-17. A tight Under 14 match went to McGlashan 15-10.
TBHS recorded a pleasing win 353-348 in the Trap-shooting at Waldronville. The Chess 14-2, Badminton 5-1 and Debating 2-1 all went the way of McGlashan and helped them take overall honours 8-6 with one drawn fixture.
