Lions Hockey Team report

TBHS —

The Lions Hockey team in 2015 comprised a mixture of hostel boys ranging from Year 9 to Year 12.

The team competed in the local 3rd division men’s competition. The year started off with some very fresh players to the game of hockey with five team members having never played before. The Lions were a very young team with a very social atmosphere and a great enthusiastic attitude. The team started off the season very slowly with the lack of experience showing. Over the season with the help of Coaches Jack Leslie and Shaun Coles alongside the manager Abbey Reith, the team made some dramatic improvements with some astonishing wins against much tougher opponents.

One of the highlights of the season was an amazing end of season run allowing them to make it to the semi-finals. In the semi they were unluckily matched against a very strong Mountainview 1st XI, who the boys struggled against, leaving them in a playoff for third place against the TBHS 3rd XI. They went down narrowly, ending up in fourth place. After a great season the boys should be proud to end with fourth place as it really shows the great improvements that the team made throughout the time.

A special thanks to everyone involved in helping out the team and the supporters that turned up to cheer the boys on. Special mention goes towards Charlie Stock who was the team’s Most Improved Player and Hugh Rollinson who was the team’s Most Valuable Player.
