Swimming success

TBHS —

Congratulations to Riley Taylor and Jack Sands on their performances at recent swim meets.

NATIONAL AGE GROUP SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to Riley Taylor on his recent success at the National Age Group Swimming Championships where he received two bronze medals – one in the 400m and the other in the 1500m freestyle. This was only the second time Riley had swum the 1500m, a swim that saw him knock 40 seconds off his personal best time. Achieving personal bests in all eight of his races, Riley finished in the Top 10 for seven of his races and qualified for six finals.

Riley was also named in three Canterbury Under 15 Relay teams and has been selected to attend a National Youth Training Camp in Dunedin.

2015 NZ SECONDARY SCHOOL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

This event was held in Hamilton and we were represented by Jack Sands who competed in the 13 year old age grade. Jack took part in nine events over the weekend and came away with eight personal bests and two 3rd placings. The thirds were gained in the 50m and 100m backstroke and will no doubt build confidence and motivation for future competition. Jack also gained a further four top 10 finishes which at a national level is very pleasing.
