Jack was a "great man" and a "great help to an older person" after he stopped to help Shirley when the mobility scooter she was riding lost power.

Mrs Shirley Hunter contacted the newspaper wishing to connect with the young men who had come to her aide when her scooter lost power.
Jack Dockrill, Tom Sutton, Richard Irving and Matt Kennedy were recognised by Age Concern New Zealand as being worthy recipients of an Age Concern Champion Award.
