With the Christmas holidays hitting us, consider purchasing the 2020-21 Entertainment Book, a major fundraiser for our PTA.

A reminder to parents that the Junior Prizegiving is scheduled for 11:00am Friday 4 December.

Thursday 5 November saw the school celebrate our senior students' achievements as well as farewell them at Senior Prizegiving in readiness for their NCEA exams.

Timaru Boys' looks forward to our annual Year 8 Welcome Day.

Thank you to the wonderful group of Year 10 Food Technology students who hit the road with their teacher Mrs Paul, delivering Christmas cheer to a number of our Old Boys and widows.

The Rite Journey program has culminated in the final challenge of the year recently completed at Peel Forest Outdoor Pursuits Centre.

Year 9 Totara recently had the opportunity of a closeup experience with raptors at the local Raptor Trust.

With Covid-19 lockdown interrupting the flow of Year 9 camps in Term 1, Year 9 Manuka finally had the opportunity to travel to John Scott Lodge last week.

Congratulations to our TBHS 7s A team who received a wild card entry for the Condor 7s in recognition of their previous achievements.

The Year 9 Interhouse competition held on 2-3 December commenced with some real fun being had by all four houses.

Thomas House Christmas Dinner was held on 3 December.

This term the following Hospitality classes (12/13 HOSP, 11/12 PACE) have been focusing on the Art of Presentation and the Gift of Giving during lessons.

This will take place in two sessions, one on Friday the 4th of December (mainly for Hostel and bus students) and Monday the 5th of December.

Year 9 Visual Art students have been busy creating Monochromatic Masterpieces recently.

TBHS Rowing is selling some fabulous tea towels with a local flavour.

Congratulations to Ben Walker who has once again made it through to the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Symphony Orchestra (NZSSSO).

Thank you to NZ Insulators (Temuka) who have supported the school with a large donation of clay.

Congratulations to all 40 students from local secondary schools who slept rough overnight in November, raising over $4,000 for the South Canterbury Presbyterian Support Family works' foodbank.

The Tongan Society held a function on Saturday night to acknowledge success of a student in each school in the region.

The Technology Department has taken delivery of the long awaited CO2 Glass Tube Laser Cutter.

This year we farewell Mr Ian Willis who has taught at Timaru Boys' for 39 years.

Congratulations to the twelve Year 9 Students who were rewarded with a scenic flight over the Timaru District in recognition of their hard work, and displaying the TBHS POWER values throughout this year.

Our annual PB4L Gold Draw for Year 9 and 10 students is a highly anticipated event!

Outside of normal school hours, it is lovely to see our boys supporting local community events.

Our 1st XI Cricket team has made the final of the Christchurch Schools' Competition.

The Caroline Bay Relays held on Tuesday 17 November in very warm conditions saw TBHS enter a Year 10 A team and six Year 9 teams from each of the Tree classes.

Timaru Boys' has been saddened by the passing of esteemed Old Boy, Jim Wakefield, a generous benefactor and supporter of our school.

There will be a uniform sale in the Music Room, immediately after Junior Prizegiving on Friday 4 December.

A the year draws to a close, sports events are winding down but keep an eye out for the following:

Nominations for the 2020 Teschemaker Cup close on 7 December.

On the Sunday night before each Christmas, our local Rotary Club hosts Carols by Candlelight.

Having offered an introductory $2 adult fare since it was launched, MyWay by Metro will have a small fare increase from Monday 23 November.
