The PB4L team held a Silver Prize Draw in the second week of this term. Students who have earned Silver cards have demonstrated the POWER values regularly throughout the year, and worked their way through a number of Bronze cards.

This term we are reviewing our approach to teaching Junior boys to meet their needs, as we get ready for 2017. 

Work is well underway for our major fundraiser, the annual Fireworks Bonanza, which will be held on Friday 4 November.

Guest speaker at this year's winter sports prizegiving was Marc Ryan, double Olympic medallist.   

Student Sports volunteers from our local South Canterbury secondary schools were recognised at a breakfast function held recently to reward those students who had supported sport through coaching, managing or refereeing. 

Congratulations to Jonathon Smitham who competed in the Special Olympics Swimming Regional Games recently held in Greymouth.

We are proud to announce that Kit Sadler has been selected by the Rotary Clubs of Timaru to represent South Canterbury at this year’s National Science and Technology Forum. The 2016 Forum will be held from the 9 - 23 January in Auckland.

The ANTS (Advanced Naturally Talented Students) took a day trip to Oamaru on 17 October and visited Rod Tempero Motor Body Builders and Steampunk HQ.

At this year’s Sanford Science and Technology Fair, Tim Currie did extremely well with his project called “Clover vs Grass” which investigated interspecific competition between clover and grass. Tim received an all-expenses paid Hands-On Science experience at Otago University.

The Year 11 class is currently completing the tramping topic in class and undertook a two day tramping trip at both Mt Somers and Peel Forest at the end of last term.

Congratulations to Jack Winsley on his win at the recent Alpine Energy Art Awards at the South Canterbury Art Society's 64th annual show. 

During the recent holidays, George Hill, a very talented snare drummer in Year 12, who is also a member of the NZ Foundation Youth Pipe Band (Under 20's), travelled with the band to Australia.

Well done to Dah Tong Ong and Larry Yeung who came 3rd in the U18 Doubles at the National Club Champs recently held in Auckland.

Congratulations to Ofa Manuofetoa on his selection for the professional Newcastle Knights Rugby League club. 

Congratulations to Stephen Garner who came 3rd in the Downhill and 2nd in the Super Downhill at the South Island Secondary Schools Mountain Biking competition held in Dunedin.

On Saturday 15 October, the South Island and Aoraki Secondary Schools MX Champs were held at the Backflips Track in Pleasant Point and saw Timaru Boys’ High School enter thirteen riders (four teams) - the most from any school represented. 

On Wednesday 7 September, Emergency services arrived at Timaru Boys’ High School to attend a simulated crash set up by the SADD (Students Against Dangerous Driving) group, led by Ethan Grimmer.

Timaru Boys’ High School continues to host a growing number of International Students who become important members of our community, either as short term visitors or as students who remain here for up to five years to complete their secondary education.
