There were 19 students who volunteered their time on a Thursday morning to help Y8’s at Bluestone and Y9’s at Timaru Boys. There are 12 students who help those at Bluestone, with the balance at our school. Each spend time selecting books their buddies might like to read and then spend time encouraging them to read aloud and understand the storyline. This is done in our Y12’s own time and the leadership and commitment shown being a real credit to them alongside the POWER values we uphold in our school lives. Students gain in confidence with the written word and hopefully enjoy their reading more in the future.

 It was a great night with a lovely meal, providing an opportunity for parents to catch up and especially connecting new families who may have only joined the boarding hostel this year.

Sincere thanks goes to Justin Holman our superb Catering Manager, for the delicious food. It was a wonderful evening to catch up with so many parents.
