In Assembly recently, five International students shared stories from their home life and home countries, and talked about their New Zealand ambitions, to a captivated audience. 

This programme has been designed and implemented with the focus on Year 11 students who may struggle with attaining their Level 1 National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) in mainstream classes, and to enable a transition into Year 12, other study options or the workplace.

This has been a busy term for our students making decisions about their future; either those making subject choices for 2018, or seniors leaving to employment or further study.

Term 3 has been very busy for the TBHS International Department.

Please note that the Senior Conferencing and Junior Work Day will both take place on the final day of Term 3 – Friday 29 September.

The proposed Leavers’ Dinner for the current Year 13s and their parents/caregivers is set for Tuesday 5 December. 

Senior Wood BCITO Construction

The Year 13 Wood based BCITO students have put in a great effort collectively constructing a small timber framed project. They are proud to present to you a Free Range Hen house.

Timaru Boys’ High School is a regular contributor to the annual festival of South Canterbury student art, showcased in the Artarama Competition held at the Aigantighe Art Gallery

Friday 25 August saw TBHS take out the three championship titles we were competing for: Senior A, Junior A and Junior B

The PB4L Silver Draw with School Ball related prizes took place last week with the following students receiving prizes.

Fuel for Schools is a school sponsorship programme aimed at supporting rural schools throughout New Zealand.

A ski trip is planned for Thomas House students on Monday 11 September to Round Hill. 

The annual Winter Sports Exchange between Timaru Boys’ and Waitaki Boys’ took place in Oamaru, a successful outing for Timaru. 

Some of our boys have been going out into the community and gardening for people after school.

Stirling Taylor, Year 11, has joined us this term on an exchange from Kinross Wolaroi School in Orange , New South Wales. 

On Thursday 24 August, the Interhouse General Knowledge Quiz took place at lunchtime in the library.

The Year 10s had a great time at Roundhill last Wednesday. 

The School Library would like to build a collection of board games for students to use.

The Food Technology Department has an ongoing requirement for Ice Cream containers and takeaway food containers.
