Aoraki Cross Country

Timaru Boys’ had a number of boys running last Wednesday in the Aoraki Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs at Mountainview High School.

In cool conditions, our boys had an outstanding afternoon. First up was the Junior race with Michael Munro finishing in 5th place followed by Josh Wilson and Quinn Motley finishing 7th and 10th.

The Intermediate boys’ race saw the Rawlins brothers fight it out for the minor places with William finishing 3rd overall and Peter 4th. Campbell Plows was next to finish in 11th place followed by Sam Rogers taking 20th place and securing the teams’ race for Timaru Boys’. Robert Chapman ran very well to finish 21st place.

In the Senior race we had George Guerin and Bailey Gebbie fighting it out for the spoils. It was George’s first outing as a senior and saw him run superbly, finishing in second place and never backing down to the Year 13 runner from Geraldine. Bailey finished a very strong 4th followed by Cathal Guiney in 5th. Sam Ritchie finished in 9th place with Marshell Bell and Bailey Lissington finishing strongly. Timaru Boys’ won the teams’ race as well.

A great day out and four of these runners, George Guerin, Bailey Gebbie, William and Peter Rawlins are looking forward to the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs in Christchurch this weekend.
