Louisa Wall Inspires Our Girls

Hayden Dawson —

Monday 13 May saw a visit to the school by Labour MP Louisa Wall. She came to school to talk to the students about her life experiences and lessons that she has learnt.

Louisa spoke to a whole school assembly about her experiences about becoming a Silver Fern at 19 years old then a New Zealand Womens Rugby player in the team to win the Women's Rugby World Cup. She then went onto University to gain a Masters Degree before she entered politics. Her private members bill would go onto to become the Marriage Amendment Act 2013 which would legalise same sex relationships to the same status as marriage. She spoke of her driving passion for equality for peoples of New Zealand.

She spoke with real conviction and passion and her message was well received by the students.
