International Student Update
Looking back on Term 1
We started the year with 16 International students from a mix of countries - Japan, Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong and India, of which four were here for Term 1 only.
In Week 7, we welcomed seven Thai short stay students for four weeks. They were able to attend school lessons with their buddy along with having the opportunity to travel around parts of the South Island visiting many places such as Tekapo, Mt.Cook, Arrowtown and Queenstown. They also had the chance to participate in different activities such as archery, learning Maori games, songs and dance, and rock painting.
Along with the Thai students, we also welcomed ten Japanese short stay students for one week. They participated in our New Zealand school life along with the offered ESOL lessons in the morning.
A big thank you must be given to the students who offered to be buddies for these girls as your role is an important one to make sure our visitors feel welcome and valued.
We sadly farewelled our four Japanese short stay students Sakura Toi, Miu Fueta, Nanako Okamoto and Risako Maeda and wished them well for their return home.
