Mauria te Pono - Believe in Yourself

Principal —

This term is a fast and furious one.

It’s hard to believe that our seniors have finished the formal part of their classes for the year (many still opt to come in to school and study in an unoccupied classroom, or get some last minute tutorials before their examinations, which is great). It is my hope that every senior student adopts a disciplined approach as they prepare for their examinations. There is value to be gained in learning to respond to stress by simply rolling up one’s metaphorical sleeves and doing the work that needs to be done! Along with this I wish every student a strong dose of self-belief as they prepare for, and sit, their exams. You can do it girls! Mauria te Pono – Believe in yourselves!

Year 10 camp is looming on the horizon and as I write this we are still aiming for a 100% strike rate in terms of attendance – just a few more permission forms to come in and we will be sorted. Please contact the school if there is anything that is stopping your daughter from attending camp. The students gain so much from these experiences (as do the staff who go!).

At the time of writing this article I am looking forward to attending the hostel Xmas dinner this evening. I continue to be inspired by the way that our hostel girls support each other and operate as a family unit (on the whole 🙂).

Our summer sporting codes are now underway and we continue to have strong numbers representing our school on the sporting stage.

A few  weeks ago we had the Education Review Office (ERO) come and “review” our school for four days. The ERO team very quickly picked up on the many strengths of our school and had a lot of very positive things to feedback to us. We obviously also gained some valuable feedback with regards to next steps for continued improvement. The report should be published online by the end of the year.

I am looking forward to a rewarding, busy, vibrant Term 4. Thank you all for your continued support of “our” school.

Nga mihi nui
