In 2024, Rebecca Kidd achieved an English Scholarship.

Growing up I’ve always loved reading and writing, which quickly led to English becoming a subject I am passionate about. Though the idea of Scholarship English first sounded daunting, I soon realised it was something that not only appealed to me, but was also something I found exciting. 

In order to pass this exam, a lot of time was put into reading various books across a range of genres, developing my critical thinking, practicing essay writing and forming in-depth interpretations of texts. 

I couldn’t have achieved this success without the help of Mrs Bennett, who not only encouraged me to read a wide range of literature, but also challenged me to critically analyse and question everything that I’ve ever read. I would like to say a massive thank you to Mrs Bennett again and all my English teachers over the years who have encouraged and supported me, because I could not have achieved this without you all. 

I will take the skills that I have developed throughout my preparation for this exam into other areas of my further study and work in the future. 

To any students that have an interest in literature, I encourage you to consider taking this exam, as it will challenge your thinking and change your perspective on literature as a whole.
