Blue Light Life Skills Camp – Overall Merit Award

Ms King —

Two Timaru Girls’ High School students, Sally Houlahan and Arabella Shelton recently attended the Blue Light Life Skills camp at Burnham Military Base.

This camp provides young people from all around Aotearoa with a range of life skills and active experiences like parade ground drills, leadership tasks and teamwork activities. Places are limited, so when we heard there a few spots available we jumped at the chance to engage some of our students. Arabella and Sally were lucky enough to get into the September camp and we will look to refer students to the 2022 events as they are announced.

Sally Houlahan was awarded one of the highest recognitions for the September intake, winning the Overall Merit Award for her consistent progression throughout the camp, her self-discipline, and her tautoko/support of others.

The Timaru Girls’ High School staff and community are very proud of Sally for her achievement, and of both girls for their willingness to step out of their comfort zones by attending this camp.
