TGHS Welcomes German Trainee Teacher

TGHS —

My Name is Nadja Weinacker and I would like to introduce myself to you.

Currently, I am studying to become a teacher with the main subjects Biology
and Maths for Secondary Schools in the third semester of my Master
studies at the University of Education in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Outside of my curriculum, I’m also involved for example in the Students' Union
and I work as a voluntary educator in primary schools during holidays.

In the last years I did some placements in different schools in
Germany to get an insight into different schools.
During my last placement I worked with students with different migrate
background.
In this context I thought about school systems in other
countries and decided to do a placement abroad to broaden my horizons.

I was very happy to be a part of Timaru Girls' High School for my
seven-week internship.
Even before I arrived, the school was able to convince me with its
main idea as well as the extracurricular engagement.
This positive impression was reinforced by the friendly and respectful
approach to school life.
I felt welcomed from the beginning in the School as well as the Hostel,
where I resided.
