History on the Napier Tartan Kilt from the 'Lively Retrospect'
"Probably the most important event of 1967 was the introduction of the new uniform.
In March the jacket, skirt and cardigan were modelled. The tie and beret had not been finalised.
It was finally decided that from 1968 the official uniform of the Timaru Girls' High School would be a Napier tartan kilt (blue, white and black), with a white shirt blouse and navy tie, an Auckland blue jacket with the new badge, baker boy beret, brown shoes and stockings. A blue cardigan could also be worn.
The new badge or or arms of the Timaru High School board, used by the schools, had been designed by the Royal College of Heraldry, and presented on the occasion of the celebration by the Boys' High School of the eighty-fifth anniversary of the school.”
